Estings evaluation

I was going to make a short 2-D hand drawn animation, but unfortunately, due to time issues I ran out of time to make it so I have no animation to show. I also had a variety of character desings, showing different eyes to portray emotions, the cat as a small 'chibified' kitten, the back of the cat, how it's fur colouring was, from the front and different styles of eyes and mouth, as well as a short but very large storybaord, showing shot length and angles for each shot, with a hidden E4 logo in the picture hanging on the wall as well as the E4 hair ball sliding down the screen (but it went missing, I think it has been thrown away by someone from another class). Although I didn't like any of my ideas, but they were the only ideas I could think of. The cat idea isn't suitable for being an Esting let alone a animation in a lesson. I feel like it was a terrible idea and I shouldn't make it, I am ashamed that I even thought of it.

Target Audience

My research shows that my target audience is, well, a little surprising, their sports choices (They actually have got sports they like) for teenagers is obviously football or none at all, but they have also chosen rugby and hockey as their favourite sports. Another surprising thing is the fact that they had difficulty choosing their favourite clothes brand, so I had to spend a while suggesting clothing brands, but it came to just being primark. Although the only unsurprising thing was their entainment choice, gaming. The main game styles chosen were; shooting games, fantasy and survival horror, which is very unsurprising for teenagers. Their foood choices were also very unsurprising, consisting mainly of fizzy drinks and unhealthy snack foods, also their main choices of film were comedy (Darker/Rock) which, for thier age group of 15-16. But my research was extremely biased as I only asked teenage boys, in the future I will definitely ask girls to have wider and far more accurate research.

How to gain employment in the media industry

To  get employemnt as an illustrator (Or any other jobs) you can look on websites such as the Media Guardian or Mandy.com and other specialist websites ands apply yourself, but another technique is to network and go out to talk to people working the a media agency. I looked at the Media guardian and gathered infomation.

The one page synopsis must have:

The event which starts the story

The decisions and actions which the characters make to achieve a goal

The obstacles they encounter and how they overcome them

Whether they win or lose or achieve their goals

And the end of the films and where we leave the characters

You put this into your one page synopsis so when you are selling to directors or film makey people they want to make your film and give you money so you can make it. This gets them interested in your idea and choose yours over other films.

My idea

A cat cleans itself and then vomits up an E4 logo hair ball.




A dozy cat wakes up during the early afternoon to give himself a clean, licking his paws sleepily and mewing as he cleans his whiskers then yawns, but wretches suddenly and his eyes widen. Digging his claws into the purple cushion he was sleeping on his hair raises as he desperately tries to cough up his hair ball, but a slimy, hairy E4 logo hits the screen and slides down a little, smearing mucus and saliva on the screen. He smiles and curls up to sleep again.

Synopsis'

One sentence:
Two young girls are taken to a home in the country side with their father while their mother recovers from an illness in hospital, but they find forest spirits hidden around their home.




One paragraph:
Two sisters named Mei and Satsuki move into an old country house closer to their Mother, Yasuko, who is recovering from a long term illness in hospital with their Father. They find out that the house is inhabited by susuwatari which are small dark dust sprites which drift away, but in an attempt to follow them younger sister Mei runs into the forest surrounding the house. In which she finds a large cat like creature which she names Totoro. A few days later the sisters fight and Mei runs to the hospital which is miles away to give her Mother some corn she grew in an attempt to make her better faster, their neighbours manically try to look for them but Totoro brings her home. After returning home a few days later, while waiting for the bus to return with their Father on it in the rain, Totoro appears beside the two sisters and calls the many-legged cat bus which takes them to their mother's hospital, where they leave their home grown corn on her windowsill. And, to their joy, she does return.

Ideas for E4 animation

My first idea would be a chat show with a QI theme, perhaps bringing celebrities or guests onto the show, asking completely random questions and talking about completely stupid things, like watermelons.

My second idea would be a game, movie and TV show themed comedy show, making jokes about anything possible or reminiscing on the stupidity or inaccuracy of what goes on in them.

My third idea would be when the public ring up and we have a few rounds of quick fire questions which no one would ever know, like 'WHY IS MY HEAD MADE OF MAYONNAISE?!' and generally scare everyone who rings up for an hour or two.

I  have sent out a questionnaire to a variety of people, which was my primary research done on a one to one basis to gain an overall idea of what people thought of Estings, but also in my questionnaire I had open questions to gain people's opinions and ideas on Estings but only done on a one to one basis. I found out from my questionnaire that my classmates would rather have Estings made purely from the imagination, no parodies or famous people in them, just something completely random and imaginative.

Then I shall build upon my compliment so you can appreciate it more! I saw this on the telly, laughed, said, "Awww how tragic!" (I was drinking tea at the time) and then told my dad about it later that day. He laughed at the mere concept and demanded I find it online so he could watch it too. Great work!
